When she was about 19 Marie Baltazzi painted a floral design on the silk leaves of a mother of pearl ribbed hand fan, which she gave to her mother. The fan came down to Lucy Augustus Agelasto, who was distantly related to John Michael Agelasto, the husband of Marie's sister, Aglaïa (4 x cousin, 1 time removed), who all lived in London, Lucy passed it on to Carolyn Agelasto Hughes, her great niece, and also the great grand-daugter of John Michael.
