Provides for disabled ex-Service men and women. Formerly, the Star & Garter Hotel, which by 1916 had fallen into a state of dilapidation and which the Auctioneers and Estate Agents Institute purchased and gave to Queen Mary who, in turn, entrusted the building to the British Red Cross. Hotel guests on the night of the 1861 census included the Stephen Franghiadi family.
