Active member of 'Pat Line' escape and evasion line (1940-43) working with Dr George Rodocanachi and Fanny Rodocanachi (née Vlasto). Later joined General de Gaulle’s Free French staff in London.

Left Marseilles through Pat Line, his own escape line, on 22 Apr 1943 to join de Gaulle’s Free French in London. In 1934 he won the English schoolboys’ tournament at Queen’s Club in (see glowing report in press cutting).

In 1937 and 1938 he represented France at the Wimbledon lawn tennis championships (Men’s Singles).
