- Two-thirds of a page in the legal journal describes his bankruptcy of 1885:
"The property, of the debtor, which would become divisible amongst his creditors if. he were adjudged bankrupt, to vest in the Official Receiver as Trustee, who shall administer the same in like manner, as though the debtor had been adjudged bankrupt, and he had been, appointed, Trustee in the bankruptcy. Within fourteen days by the approval by the Court, Mr. Lucas Eustratios Ralli, of 25 Finabury Circus, London, to pay on behalf of the debtor to the Trustee the sum of £4,000. Upon payment of the said sum the Trustee to assign to Mr. Lucas Eustratios Ralli, or to whom he shall direct, all the estate, of the debtor set forth in his statement of affairs (except the leases which, are intended to be disclaimed, and also except the Director's fees payable to the debtor by the Cape of Good Hope Diamond Mining Company, and the Varna Railway Company, estimated as amounting together to £1,500). The Trustee to adminter the £4,000 when so paid (together with the said Director's fees) in the following manner: 1st, in payment of fees, costs, charges, and expenses; 2nd, in payment in full of all preferential debts in priority, to other debts; 3rd, in distributing the. balance in payment of. one or more dividends to the unsecured creditors who may prove debts to the satisfaction of the Official Receiver. The scheme to be accepted, by the creditors in full satisfaction of their claims and demands against the debtor, and the approval by the Court to operate as a discharge to the said debtor.
