    • Cardinal Etchegaray, archbishop of Marseille, assisted by Mgr Fihey, conducted the funeral in the chapel of St. Joseph Hospital which proved "too small to hold the numerous friends of the deceased." Concerning his work at the hospital, the obituary noted: "Il assumait cette fonction avec un dévouement, une charité, un amour des malades qui faisaient l'admiration de tous ceux qui l'approchaient à quelque degré qu'ils appartiennent."
