- Through his will, dated 1 Jul 1889, with a codicil of 20 Jan 1890, he bequeathed £400 to the Evangelismos, Athens; £400 to the Hadji Costa Orphanage, Athens; £1,000 to Miss Sophia Triooupis; his Tanagra statuettes and Greek vases to the National Museum, Athens, but which are to remain at 1 Holland Park, while occupied by his widow. Gross value of the estate was £19,026 18s 2d and is left chiefly to members of the family. Executors were John Balli, Stephen Augustus Agelasto and Charles Cheston (Daily News [London], 25 Mar 1899).

- The 'tall young Greek' in 'Trilby'. Described in the Martineau Memoirs. Greek Consul-General 1884-94. Employed William Morris, Walter Crane, Philip Webb and others to redecorate the interior of No. 1 Holland Park, London.
- Aleco bought several paintings by his friend James Whistler: 'Sea and Rain', 'Nocturne in Blue and Gold', 'Valparaiso Bay', 'Green and Grey', 'The Oyster Smacks, Evening', 'Arrangement in Grey', 'Portrait of the Painter'.
- His portrait was painted by G. F. Watts and Legros. A group photograph shows him and five children at a five-barred gate at Homewood.
- He retired from the family stock broking business in 1882 and retired to Brighton where he concentrated in building up his art collection. In his will, he bequeathed all 1138 items to the Victoria and Albert Museum, where most of the paintings, including works by Rembrandt, Degas, Delacroix and Millet, are now on public display.
- He was a creditor with Demetrius Stefanovich Schilizzi, 9 Fenchurch St, London, Merchant, in the bankruptcy of Tunis Railways Company Limited (London Gazette 6 Jan 1874).
