- Served in WWl in which he appears to have been wounded. Hampshire Regt. (Special Reserves) attached to Ox & Bucks Light Infantry. Three times mentioned in despatches for gallant service. Awarded the Distinguished Service Order on 18 June 1917. Theodore Emmanuel Rodocanachi, 3rd Battalion, Hampshire Regiment, made Second Lieutenants, on probation, 27 Feb 1915 (London Gazette 26 Feb 1915); T.E. Rodocanachi, M.C. (Hamps. R. Spec. Res.). to be actg. Capt. whilst comdg. a Co. 18 July 1916.(London Gazette 21 Nov 1916). Oxf. & Bucks. L.I.: Lt. T.E. Rodocanachi, M.C. (Hamps. R., Spec. Res.). to be temp. Capt, 1 Oct. 1916 (London Gazette 16 Feb 1917). Lt. T. E. Rodocanachi, M.C. (Hamps. R., Spec. Res.), relinquishes the actg. rank of Capt. on ceasing to comd. a Co., 19 Oct 1916 (London Gazette 1 Dec 1916).
- In the King's conferring of the Military Cross, the citation reads: "Second Lieutenant Theodore Emmanuel Rodocanachi, 3rd Battalion, The Hampshire Regiment, attached 5th Battalion, The Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. For conspicuous gallantry at Railway Wood on 17th October, 1915. When a mine had been exploded under one of the trenches he went forward under rifle fire to reconnoitre the crater, one bullet going through his cap. Later, when the Germans fired some shells on a working party in the crater, Second Lieutenant Rodocanachi, by his personal example and coolness, kept the men at work, although several were hit, until a satisfactory trench had been made." (London Gazette 16 Nov 1915)
- Dispatches: Led his company to their objective despite heavy fire and despite being injured on three separate occasions during the advance. Consolidated his position and continued to command until finally incapacitated.
