- Catsiyannis says he was in London before 1838 and emigrated to Brazil around 1843-44. (Christopher Long)
- 3 Mar 1836: Hypatios M. Rodocanachi, 16, single, born Chios, arrived Syros 1820, student, swore allegiance to the Greek government at the town hall, Ermoupolis, Syros.
- Apparently trading in Rio de Janeiro under the name of Joćo Baptista Rodocanachi & Co., 1856-1890.
- Almanak Administrativo, Mercantil e Industrial do Rio de Janeiro, 1881, p 182, under rubric "accrescimos e alteracoes; sobrevindos durante a impressao" [changes that arose during printing], cited on p. 88: Joćo Baptista Rodocanachi, Observatorio Astronomico (68). Apparently, he was omitted from the listing under names beginning with Joćo. His son Joćo Ernesto was employed there.
- Often introduced in shipping news items in the 1860s, Diįrio do Rio de Janeiro, as 'o grego' [the Greek]. By 1870 he worked with the company Franghiadi & Rodocanachi.
