Notes |
- Occupation Merchant trader and stock broker. Director of the Société Commercial 'Le Khedive'.
- When he married, went into partnership with brother-in-law Dimitri Vouro. But within months (August 1889) Aristides deserted his pregnant wife and absconded with £80 cash, boarding a French steamer for Marseilles. Wrote to his wife (promising to return at once if she would undertake to 'mend') and to his brother-in-law Dimitri Vouro (asking for £90 to settle business affairs, and confessing the loss of Maria's dowry, apparently some £4,500). Aristides eventually returned, though not before taking some sort of nerve cure in Europe. Remained a broker in Alexandria until 1894, then moved to Cairo, where he was manager of the Laurens cigarette company.
