Notes |
- Residence: 1887, 97 Hanley Road, Islington, Middlesex, England; at DOD, 24 Ithakis St, Athens.
- Occupation: merchant; 1887, Tobacco Manufacturer. In discussing an exhibition in Antwerp, a commentator noted "Fastidious smokers will find a large assortment of the best brands of Turkish and Russian cigarettes and tobacco at the stand of Agelasto Brothers, of Antwerp" (Liverpool Mercury 15 May 1886).
- Argenti says Jean.
- G. Washburn in his book on Robert College, Constantinople, mentions a "Yanko Agelasto" as a witness to the signing of a school document in 1868. Yanko, a familiar form of John, could have been John Stamati Agelasto, 9 years old at the time.
- J. Agelasto, domiciled at R. Van Immerzeel, 12, Anvers/Antwerpen, was marketing tobacco products at a trade show Oct 1885.

Marriage |
1855 |
Constantinople/Istanbul Turkey [3] |
- In his book George Zarifi says "Catherine Psomadis married an Agelasto in Belgium". He might, though, have meant: an Agelasto [who was living and working] in Belgium. That actually leaves the question unanswered--where exactly the marriage took place--but doesn´t make things less confusing. (George Agelastos)

24 Mar 1887 |
Islington, London, England UK |
- The marriage of John Agelasto and Victoria Verbracken was registered Jan-Feb-Mar 1887, v. 1b, Islington, Middlesex, England. Argenti has the date: 20 Jun 1884; Constantine Couclelis agrees: "Most probably not married in 1887, ie after the birth of her daughter Jeanne!" It is possible there was a religous ceremony in Belgium, followed several years later by marriage registration in the UK.
