- He was one of seven crew in Hallifax Mk.III (MZ733 C8-H) bomber which took off from RAF Leconfield, Yorkshire, at 05.27 hrs, 28 Jun 1944, to attack the V-1 Flying Bomb site at Wizernes. At 08.33 hrs, as it returned from the mission, the aircraft crashed at RAF Hawkinge, Kent, and burst into flames, killing all aboard. For more see Remember Them website.
