From cemetery records: Julia Cobay nee Burch was born at Wittersham, the fourth daughter of George and Elizabeth Burch. She was baptised at Mersham on 14 February 1847. Her father moved his family to Newington soon afterwards, where he was a miller and baker, living at the Mill House. She married John Cobay in 1872, and they had two daughters. Julia continued running the White Hart after her husband's death. | Burch, Julia (George) (I1480)

From Christopher Long: He claimed to have been born 5 Dec 1909 in Manafon in mid Wales, and that he was related to Lord Alfred Douglas. The truth emerged in 2010-11. According to his cousin Roy Williams he was the illegitimate son of Alice Martha Andrew, b. 5 Dec 1905 (father not stated). He was 'adopted' by Alice’s sister Sarah Maria and her husband Charles Williams who had just lost a child. Sarah and Charles later had four children, the youngest being William Stuart Williams, father of Roy Williams. Sydney is recorded as part of the family in the 1911 census for Glanrhiew, New Mills, Newtown. Aged about 14 he left home to become an actor and was not seen by his family again (he later turns up as Derek Williams, the actor); they thought he had been killed serving in the Royal Navy in WW II. He appears to have had a sister Annie, also illegitimate, who is thought to have had the same father as Sydney/Derek. He may have been Col. Reuben Norton of Dolcorsllwyn Hall. | Andrew [Derek Ernest D. Williams], Sydney Ernest (unknown) (I1362)

From Gordon Pape, "Americans in Greece-dupes or accomplices?" Southam News Services, Medicine Hat News, Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, 2 Jun 1971:
Some Greek intellectuals are thoroughly convinced that the military coup d'etat of April 21, 1967 was directly engineered by the Central Intelligence Agency, acting through Nato channels. Thessaloniki lawyer Demitrius Zannas, who was educated in an American school and who has acted as counsel for several major U.S. firms, see the shadow of the CIA behind the colonels. "Few people feel as bitter as I do against the Americans," he said. "They are responsible for our slavery". | Zannas, Dimitri (Constantine) (I3480)

From her obituary: "In her earlier years, Edna was very active in her community. She was an integral member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Farmingdale and participated in the Rotary Club. Her love for life extended to her passions, which included playing cards, especially with her grandchildren—her favorites being Kings in the Corner and Help Your Neighbor. She also enjoyed spending time at bingo games and could always be found shopping, with an eye for style. Edna was known for always being impeccably dressed, loving her time spent getting her hair and nails done, and maintaining a radiant presence wherever she went." | Lupton, Edna May (Lewis) (I3076)

Our beloved Andrew left us suddenly. In his too short life he experienced the world through extensive travel, exercised his many talents (carpentry, gardening, painting, pottery, writing, design) and had careers in social work, child education and photography. He is mourned by the Rodocanachi and Whelton families and his many friends. Special thanks to his nephew Noah and his Nanaimo ladies Pat McArthur, Linda Harvey and Liz Stewart-Jones from just a couple of his Vancouver ladies Christine Arcand and Hugette Gingras.
All welcome at a Gathering of Remembrance, 821 Farquar St., Nanaimo May 9 from 11:00 am. | Rodocanachi, Andrew (John) (I2013)

From the accounting records of St John Church of the Chiots, Georgiadis mentions the sum of 30 [Turkish] pounds, received on 27 Jan 1896, willed to the Church by Angeroù Agelastos, widow of Constantinos Agelastos. | Scouloudi, Angerou (I29)

From the cemetery of an already cited monastery, Georgiadis mentions the grave of: "Aikaterini S. Agelastos, born 9 October 1834, died 2 July 1875." This is picked up by Zolotas who says she was a relative of Menelaos. This placement assumes the 'S' is Stamati, not Stephen. | Agelasto, Aikaterine (Stamatti unknown) (I746)

Frosso Sarafoglu's placement here is due to detective work by Parker Agelasto and Lucy Syrioti Brett-Crowther, who is Frosso's cousin 2 times removed. Parker writes: "Frosso Sarafoglu would be Constantine (Connie) Sarafoglu's sister and would have stayed in Constantinople while he attended school in England. Assuming she was not a twin of Connie, her mother would have been Harriet Agelasto's sister, Aspasia Agelasto, who married Stephanos Sarafoglu in 1888. This was very common for a sister to marry her sister's widower and raise her nieces and nephews. Stephanos Sarafoglu died in 1890. Frosso would therefore need to have been born between 1888 and 1890." | Sarafoglu, Eufrosini (Stephanos) (I937)
