Argenti says Maximo but he himself used Maximos. Maximo, John Constantine (Constantine) (I430)

Argenti says she died on this date, Houston. Likely a typographical error; date likely their marriage. Family: Paul (Constantine) Negroponte / Jeanne Marie (Antoine) Voisin (F105)

Argenti says this Gallipoli is in Italy. Franghiadi, Emmanuel (Constantine) (I150)

Argenti says Victoire. Verbracken, Victoria (Edward) (I140)

Argenti says Zoïtsa. The marriage registration of their putative son, Pandely, lists her name as Ypatia. Calvocoressi, Zoïtsa (Pandely) (I77)

Argenti says, incorrectly, 1882. Negroponte, Maria (Ioannis) (I1190)

Argenti transliterates the name as Zoës Zeϊs [Zoës], Achilles (George) (I745)

Argenti transliterates the name as Zoës. On the death certificate the name is Zeϊs, as provided to the Athens Vital Statistics Bureau by the brother-in-law of the deceased; the latter is most likely correct. Both are fairly common Greek names (George Agelastos). Zeϊs [Zoës], George (Achilles) (I746)

Argenti's DOB, 21 Aug 1864, is inconsistent with the date of baptism from the baptism register. Agelasto, Aspasia (Augustus) (I119)

Argenti/Long say birth is 27 Apr 1850, London, England, with parents William Long and Mary Edwards. The baptism and census records suggest this is not correct. In trying to determine Matilda's parentage, an inquiry to the Yateley Society produced a detailed report by Peter J. Tipton that points out various oddities concerning her own marriage. Since there's an 8-year gap between Matilda's first two children, some other factor is probably at play. She may have gone back to the UK at the end of the American Civil War (Apr 1861-Jun 1865) had their first child baptized there and then returned to NYC where the first child died.
