3003 According to Zarifi the time when George Nicolopoulos sent his 3 sons to his brothers-in-law in Belgium must have been 1862-1864. That means, Stamati Agelasto had already been living there for years and went on living in Belgium, which conflicts with the information we have from Argenti, namely not only that the marriage took place in Constantinople (1855) but also that all his children were born there between 1857 and 1867. In addition, Georgiadis gives us in his book (p.216) the information:

In a document of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, dated 27 April 1871, Stamatios M. Agelastos is mentioned as member of the Administration Board of the Panaghia Church in Stavrodromion, Constantinople.

From Argenti and Georgiadis I would conclude that Stamati and his family actually never left Constantinople. On the other side, Zarifi knows every family, every house, nearly every stone in Constantinople so I think that the Belgium story cannot be an offspring of his imagination. (George Agelastos)
