Nicholas M. Mavrogordato was in partnership with M. E. Rodocanachi, A.P. Petrocochino, Paul E. Rodocanachi, Theodore Em. Rodocanachi, Georges M. Mavrogordato [possibly Zorzis (Matheios) Mavrogordato], Pandely Rodocanachi, Pericles Th. Rodocanachi, N.A. Scanavi and P. Rodocanachi, as Merchants, at Odessa under the firm of Theodore Paul Rodocanachi, at Rostoff under the firm of Nicholas A. Scanavi, at Marseilles under the firm of Paul and Theodore Rodocanachi, at Leghorn under the firm of Rodocanachi, Sons, and Co., at Paris under the firm of P. Rodocanachi, and at London under the firm of Rodocanachi, Sons, and Co., until it was dissolved 12 May 1880 (London Gazette 14 May 1880).

The 1851 England Census reports that Nicolas Mavrogordato, 21, general merchant, and John Mavrogordato, 36, clerk, lodged with their cousin Ambrose Ralli [maybe Ambrose (Zannis) Ralli], 24, insurance broker, all born Greece, at 26 Finsbury Circus, London.

He was an influence in various of the Odessa's religious, educational and philanthropic activities for Greeks. He donated funds to build St. Nicholas chapel, at the Maraslion Nursing Home, Maraslion, Ukraine.

Family/Spouse: Ariana (Theodore) Rodocanachi. Ariana (daughter of Theodore (Paul) Rodocanachi and Oriettou (Toumazis) Galati) was born in 1842 in Odessa, Ukraine; died on 04 Feb 1900 in Vienna, Austria. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

2. Theodore (Nicolas) Mavrogordato was born in 1863 in Odessa, Ukraine; died on 07 Sep 1879 in Bad Vöslau, Vienna, Austria.
3. Vera (Nicolas) Mavrogordato was born on 06 Nov 1866 in Odessa, Ukraine; died on 25 Oct 1955 in Nice, Alpes-Maritimes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France.

1 Dec 1834: Matthew Mavrogordato, 43, married, born Chios, arrived Syros 1825, merchant, swore allegiance to the Greek government at Ermoupolis, Syros.
