    At age 12 he suggested the laying of the memorial stone of a proposed new Calvinistic Methodist chapel in the village of Tremeirchion, Wales. His father was Greek Consul, Brynbella, Wales. 'This memorial stone of the Tremeirchion C.M. Chapel was laid by Master Anthony Michael Ralli, Brynbella, November 26th 1888' reads the inscription. In fact, the young master was not present, however, as "it was most difficult for him to obtain leave of absence in the middle of his term at school" according to his father.
