  1. 1.  Eustratios Stephanos (Stephanos) Ralli was born on 22 Apr 1800 in Chios, Greece; died on 01 Sep 1884 in Scio House, Putney Heath, Surrey, England UK; was buried on 06 Sep 1884 in Greek Orthodox Cemetery, West Norwood, London, England UK.

    Notes:

    Founding director of Ralli & Petrocochino (1818), Ralli Brothers London (1826) and Ralli Brothers Manchester (1827). Origin - Chios. Livorno. Took British nationality 16 Jul 1847. (Chaviara-Axeskoufotos:) Laid the foundation stone at St Sophia Church, London, in 1877. Pan-Hellenic Calendar Journal: "The Patriarch of the Greeks in this place... this man's name will be related to that church for centuries." Founded Ralli Bros in 1818 with his brother John. This, gazetted in 1826 as of 25 Finsbury Circus, London, grew into one of the greatest international trading houses and merchant banks with estates, warehouses and shipping fleets throughout the world. One of the founders in 1842, with Alexander Constantine Ionides, Antonius Theodore Ralli and John Stephen Scilizzi, of the first dedicated cemetery for the London Greek community at West Norwood, London. In 1858 he was a founding member of the Baltic Exchange in London. This consisted of an original 87 merchants, 13 Russian brokers, 2 Russian merchants, 4 'gentlemen' and 3 shipbrokers. His 1875 mausoleum, designed by Edward Middleton Barry, at West Norwood Cemetery is a Grade ll listed monument. One of the three trustees who signed the contract on 1849 for the land on which the Greek Church at London Wall was built. Officer of the Order of The Saviour. On 26-03-1868 Mary Ann Chadwell describes driving 'with Mrs Peter Ralli's children to Putney to see the grounds of Mrs E. Ralli. Beautiful views over Wimbledon common'. He headed the Manchester branch of Ralli Brothers and on the death of his brother Pandia ('Zeus') became the patriarch of the Greek community in Britain. (Christopher Long)

    Stephen Zannis Ralli operated from Livorno with alliances with other Ralli branches "qui ouvrit après 1805 un etablissement à Livourne pour contourner les difficultés liées au blocus continental affectant son commerce du blé avec la Russie.     Eustratios, with brothers Pandia 'Zeus' and Jean in 1818 established Ralli & Petrocochino in London; 5 Union Court, Old Broad St., London.

    Eustratios Ralli, Antonios Ralli [most likely Antonios (Alexander) Ralli rather than Antonios (Theodore) Ralli; [both buried at West Norwood] 1842, cofounded West Norwood Cemetery, London, with John Schilizzi.

    Burial plot no. 18018, sq 28, Ralli mausoleum slightly damaged by A.A. Shell, 28 Jul 1942.

    His huge vault apparently lies just outside the boundary of the Greek section of West Norwood Cemetery (Christopher Long).
