See, François Charles-Roux with additional notes by Christopher Long, The Free French in London: Forces Françaises Libres; Memories of wartime London (1942-43).

Did he have an uncle? Another François Charles-Roux was a marriage witness, was President of the Suez Canal Company 1948-56 and formed an internationally renowned collection of oriental art objects (Christopher Long).

Christopher Long: I am grateful to Mme Sylvie Clair, head of the Archives de Marseilles who revealed that François is named 'Jules-Henri' on his marriage certificate although he was always known as François throughout his life (the name of his father, killed in WWI).

Was it pure coincidence that he and Fanny chose a country house retreat, surrounded by war cemeteries, probably not far from where his father died or was killed on the last day of the war? (Christopher Long)
